ലോക ഫുട്‌ബോള്‍ ഇതിഹാസം പെലെയുടെ ജീവിതകഥ പറയുന്ന സിനിമയാണ് ‘പെലെ: ബെര്‍ത്ത് ഓഫ് എ ലെജന്റ്’. സിനിമ സംവിധാനം ചെയ്യുന്നത് ജെഫ് സിംബലിസ്റ്റാണ്. സിനിമയുടെ സംഗീതം നിർവഹിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത് എ.ആര്‍ റഹ്മാനാണ്.

I promise” 1950 ലെ ലോകകപ്പ് ഫൈനലിൽ ബ്രസീൽ തോറ്റതിൽ വിഷമിച്ചു വരുന്ന Dondinho യോട് മകനായ ഡിക്കോ പറയുന്ന വാക്കുകൾ ആണ് ഇത്. വീട്ടുജോലി എടുക്കുന്ന അമ്മയ്ക്കും മുൻ ഫുട്ബോൾ പ്ലെയറും ഇപ്പോൾ ആശുപത്രിയിലെ ക്ലീനിംഗ് ജോലിക്ക് പോകുന്ന അച്ചന്റേയും മകനായ തെരുവിൽ കളിച്ചു വളരുന്ന ഡിക്കോ എന്ന പെലെയുടെ അതിജീവനത്തിന്റെയും ലക്ഷ്യത്തിലേക്കുള്ള കുതിപ്പിന്റെയും കഥയാണ് ചിത്രം പറയുന്നത്.
